Lithium insertion in nanostructured TiO(2)(B) architectures.
Electric vehicles and grid storage devices have potentialto become feasible alternatives to current technology, but only if scientists can develop energy storage materials that offer high capacity and high rate capabilities. Chemists have studied anatase, rutile, brookite and TiO2(B) (bronze) in both bulk and nanostructured forms as potential Li-ion battery anodes. In most cases, the specific c...
متن کاملLow hole polaron migration barrier in lithium peroxide
We present computational evidence of polaronic hole trapping and migration in lithium peroxide (Li2O2), a material of interest in lithium-air batteries. We find that the hole forms in the π∗ antibonding molecular orbitals of the peroxide (O2− 2 ) anion, and that this trapped hole induces significant local lattice distortion, forming a polaron. Our study finds migration barriers for the free pol...
متن کاملA carbon-coated TiO(2)(B) nanosheet composite for lithium ion batteries.
The carbon-coated TiO2(B) nanosheet composite synthesized by one-step hydrolysis of TiCl3 followed by vacuum annealing and air annealing delivers outstanding electrochemical performance as a negative electrode for Li-ion batteries, i.e. reversible capacity above 150 mA h g(-1) at 30 C (10 A g(-1)).
متن کاملGEOCHEMISTRY OF BONINITES AND OTHER LOW TiO
Boninites are unusual island arc volcanic rocks with high MgO (>9%), high Si0 2 (>55%) contents, and exceptionally low TiO 2 (<0.4%) contents. High MgO contents, MgO/(MgO + EFeO), Ni, Cr and Co contents indicate that boninites have equilibrated with mantle peridotite. Experimental petrologic studies and high Cr/(Cr + Al) in spinels in boninites suggest that they have separated from extremely re...
متن کاملThe interdependence of structural and electrical properties in 1 TiO 2 / TiO / Ti periodic multilayers
16 Multilayered structures with 14 to 50 nm periods composed of titanium and two different 17 titanium oxides, TiO and TiO2, were accurately produced by DC magnetron sputtering 18 using the reactive gas pulsing process (RGPP). Structure and composition of these 19 periodic TiO2/TiO/Ti stacks were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and 20 transmission electronic microscope (TEM) techniques....
